Project Details:

Project Title: 2001 Briggs Road
Location: Mt. Laurel, NJ
Duration: 6 Months

Project Overview:

Diamond Materials is currently working on the 2001 Briggs Road project in Mt. Laurel, New Jersey, valued at approximately $5.65 million. The project's primary objective is to prepare the site for future warehouse development by installing essential infrastructure. This includes storm sewer systems, sanitary sewer lines, water services, and retaining walls, as well as importing fill dirt to create a level building pad.

The project covers an area of 4.1 acres and involves significant earthwork, including 12,690 cubic yards (CY) of cut-to-fill and 7,785 CY of imported fill. A critical aspect of the project is the construction of precast block retaining walls that will cross wetlands and serve as a drivable surface for future development. These walls are essential to meet design specifications and accommodate drainage needs.

Key Challenges and Solutions:

A major challenge in the 2001 Briggs Road project involved the construction of precast block retaining walls, which intersect wetlands and need to support vehicular traffic. Diamond Materials overcame this challenge by closely coordinating with the wall subcontractor (Edgewood), Blue Rock, the precast manufacturer, and the design engineer. This collaboration ensured that the walls met required compaction standards, expedited the overall construction schedule, and allowed for the custom fabrication of pipe collars to ensure sufficient drainage around the walls.

Project Quantities and Scope:

  • Total Acreage: 4.1 acres

  • Clearing: 4.1 acres

  • Cut-to-Fill: 12,690 CY

  • Import Fill: 7,785 CY

  • Storm Drainage: 5,700 linear feet (LF)

  • Sanitary Sewer: 720 LF

  • Asphalt: None (Phase 1)

  • Concrete: None (Phase 1)

  • Sidewalk: None (Phase 1)

  • Curb: None (Phase 1)

Overall, the 2001 Briggs Road project is progressing on schedule, with Diamond Materials ensuring smooth coordination and efficient completion of site preparation activities. The focus on retaining wall construction and site drainage is pivotal in achieving the project's goals and preparing the site for future development.
